He did the same thing to Calzaghe. When Calzaghe was looking to have his last 2 big fights before retiring (Hopkins and Jones). Prior to those fights Calzaghe had offered Froch a contract and he didnt accept it. According to Frank Warren Froch just kept asking when Calzaghe was going to move up in weight.

I really hope Froch is thinking of coming out of retirement and is simply trying to create buzz for this potential fight. Its pretty embarrassing how much he's talking about GGG otherwise.

Pretty sure GGG stays at 160 until he gets his hands on Saunders' belt, and also gets the Canelo bout. Tick those two off, and pretty sure he would head to 168 and stay there.

In the meantime. he can take on Ramirez at 168 for his WBO belt without having to negotiate with the sanctioning body to keep the 160 WBO one too (because Saunders has the 160 WBO belt).

As for Brook again, the date and venue was set. Eubank's promoter didn't offer any other viable options except for Brook, so GGG had two choices, take it or leave it.

      (a) Take it: keep active; made some $$; UK exposure which will help getting a future Saunders or Eubank deal done.
      (b) Leave it (can't think of any positives, but maybe others can).

If you want to hit on GGG for taking Brook, instead, pretend for a second you're his advisor and let us know what your call would have been and why. I can be convinced by any reasonable alternative tabled.

Froch was calling out Calzaghe for years. Warren did make an offer but wanted options on Froch, which Froch's promoter at the time obviously turned down.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to see that fight either. But I wouldn't call him a coward for wanting to unify vs Jacobs or Saunders. In fact I'd have liked to have seen him fight Eubank. We all know why that didn't happen. Why shouldn't they unify? Hopkins did before jumping up two divisions to beat the champ. Remember he only did it when he had to leave middle because of Taylor. Remember Tarver lost to a guy two divisions down. Taylor taken the distance by a guy to divisions down. But it's a crime in GGGs case.

Golovkin ridiculed Canelo for fighting Khan. Said Brook was too small months earlier. Wouldn't move up to fight Ward asking for a CW instead. So yes that fight was bullshit. Golovkin showed that he's an hypocrite.

Froch had just laboured against Mathew Barney after Calzaghe had destroyed Lacey. Calzaghe went on to fight Kessler, Hopkins and Jones compared to Froch who was unknown until the Super Six. Froch felt Calzaghe ducked him while taking much bigger better fights. But when young guys like Groves called him out, or Cleverly who was a weight up he acted outraged because they wasn't part of his generation or were too big. He wanted to cash out against Chavez Jnr, but when that fell through he wanted no part of a willing Degale. He expected from Joe something that he wasn't willing to do. He calls for Golovkin to go up in weight, something he wasn't willing to do because Bellew bashed him up in sparring.

Khan was Canelos first choice. Brook was a stand in to save a show. Eubank s fault because Golovkin was willing. Andre wouldn't even give Dawson a 170 catch weight, and only moved up when he couldn't make weight anymore.Doublestandard.

Froch wanted the Calzaghe fight he worked his way up the rankings to get in to a mandatory spot and Calzaghe moved up to LHW. Of course he felt Calzaghe ducked, that would have been a big British fight and would have made Calzaghe lots of money too. He wanted the Chavez fight because he wanted to fight in Vegas, which was one of his goals he'd talked about for years. Froch had no reason to go up in weight, look at the fighters he fought, there's like 8 guys better than anyone on Golovkins resume.

Someone call Dougie Fischer and tell him that Fraoch is part of "the demographic".

Hearn and Loeffler had been negotiating a fight for months, Hearn even said Golovkin turned down a 157 catchweight. Brook was always on the cards if the Eubank fight didn't get made which is why they delayed signing the Brook-Vargas fight.
