he's been in some unbelievably exciting fights. kirkland - angulo was bedlam for the entirety of the fight.

most people in the arena watch boxing to be entertained, and have little concept of how significant a fight is in the context of boxing or a specific division. and honestly, that's not a bad way to feel about a sport that doesn't match the best with the best more than once in a blue moon.

Great points, New England. I had the same questions as Motorcity: How in the world is Kirkland still getting big money fights? He's fun to watch and comes forward like a demon. Flawed? Most definitely, but it'll be a site to see as long as he's standing.

his fight with canelo was in '15. knockout of the year, and a highlight that made its way into the casual sporting mainstream. he dies magnificently.

if you can't understand why a fighter like that gets fights over a guy who puts people to sleep there's not a ton i can do for you. he's either coming forward and throwing punches or getting knocked out. people watch boxing to be entertained. most of the people in the arena have never heard of NSB. heck, many of them have never heard of the guys they're watching. kirkland all but guarantees excitement for those people.

glad no network lost their budget with this trash...let's see how much of a draw Cotto is as the A-side....might be a trash fight but has potential to entertain. One thing is certain though, Roc Nation gonna bleed more.
