Comments Thread For: Verdejo to Face Southpaw TBA In 2/3 Return to Prep for Flanagan

Felix Verdejo's return from head injuries sustained in an August motorcycle accident will come February 3 in Puerto Rico. An opponent for the unbeaten lightweight's first fight back since that setback hasn't been chosen. But he'll fight a southpaw if matchmakers from Top Rank Inc., Verdejo's promoter, can find one suitable for a 10-round fight UniMas will televise.

Can't think of many southpaws at 135 other than Shafikov and Zlaticanin and it won't be them. Marvin Quintero maybe?

How dare you call TBA a bum!!

TBA will have a low ko ratio.
TBA may even be brought up from a weight down.
TBA will play his role perfectly....as a human punching bag such as Samuel Vargas against Danny Garcia.
Verdejo will have his hands raised.
TBA will move on to the next assignment.

The fact still remains, as nice a kid as he seems , he is nothing special.

Wilfred Benitez? Now that was a special talent!!!

Southpaw TBA is a bit green, but he's dangerous because he's a hungry lion with nothing to lose! Verdejo is not looking past Southpaw TBA, who is ready to shock the world. He's in beastmode training for him.

Someone should make a screen name change.

Anyways, I like Verdejo, hope he can stay injury free and busy in '17.

Verdejo cannot afford to have another year like 2015 and 2016. Or maybe he can ? Considering that he's really young, bu he has lost a lot of momentum these past two years.

After the 2012 Olympics he was the guy that was being talked about the most and he really hasn't delivered. He was up there if he wasn't the most talked about.
I used to be harsh on the kid, but I do think he's talented.
He's one of those guys that would benefit from having a better coach. He has the physical tools to do something. He just needs to figure out how to use them. I'm not normally someone that encourages changing trainers, but Verdejo is a guy that could have benefited from somebody different is all I'm saying.

I think 2017 will be a very crucial year for Felix.
