Comments Thread For: Maxim Vlasov Blasts Rakhim Chakhkiev in Wild Shootout

Moscow, Russia - Eight years since his best career win, Russian Olympic heavyweight champion Rakhim Chakhkiev has hit his lowest in a classic cross-roader and one of the best domestic scraps in years. WBO #10 Chakhkiev, 2008 Beijing gold medalist, was dropped three times en route to a crushing defeat to fellow contender and IBF #12 cruiser weight Maxim Vlasov in seven rounds.

Chakhiev is the "kill or be killed" type of fighter. His gameplan is to take out his opponent early, however when that doesn't work he usually gets KOed.

Maybe it is poor fight IQ, but I don't think he knows how to fight any other way. I can't imagine him fighting behind a jab for 12 rounds.

On a side note, Vlasov has greatly improved since the Ramirez and Chilemba fights. He didn't have an amateur career, but he's now taken out two noteworthy opponents like Ismayl Sillakh and now Chakhiev.

Light heavies putting in work at 190, Bellew now Vlasov. I've always thought Cruiser was one of the weaker divisions, fights like these confirm it.

One of the later rounds, Chakhiev dropped Vlasov with a bodyshot while mixing it up. Vlasov got up and took the fight to Chakhiev and returned the favor putting him on his arse.

Condition condition condition! thats big problem of Rakhim Chakiev. He's solid fighter but he tires very quickly. Why they do not solve this problem, IDK but he cant go to fight in title shot!

I think its not only his conditioning. He always loads up on his punches. Every punch is intended to knock his opponent out, no wonder he has nothing left after three rounds.
