The most hilarious thing about Kovalev/Ward fight

I think the fight was really close and competitive, but the most hilarious thing about it is that Ward said he dominated the fight and that Kovalev wasn't his biggest challenge and Sergey Kovalev said exactly the same things, about Ward not being his biggest challenge stating in one of his Russian interviews that first Pascal fight and Cedric ****ing Agnew was way more difficult than Ward for him

Ward basically said it was easy work.
Kovalev said there was no problems for him in the fight, except for the fact his body slowed down after 6th round.

Both of these guys really think that they dominated that night, it's not the type of fight where one of the elite boxers imposing his will on another one, breaking him down psychologically and mentally (Walters-Loma)

But that's not how you get 1# p4p crown
Putting Kovalev or Ward on the first spot in my personal p4p list would be against my principles

    Rematch will be the same

Who cares what Ward says? You saw the fight. Be confident in your own opinion.

You've got a picture of a guy two weight classes higher than another guy supposedly protecting him. Makes no sense.

How did you see the fight? Fighters won't admit defeat. Especially in a close fight like this one. I want to know your breakdown of who landed cleaner punches, and who did what they wanted to do.

Nobody, they're great in different aspects of the game, Ward was better at controlling the distance and pace of the fight, Kovalev was great on the outside. The fight showed that both of these fighters are vulnerable.

Funny, because I was thinking it's gonna be one-sided Ward domination and schooling of "the bum". I thought Kovalev can't box that good. And before the fight I was saying on this forum that Ward is better than Mayweather, because of the way he's trying to take every episode of every round and never been troubled in his pro fights (with the exception of Darnell Boone's KD). But that fight showed that he ain't no Mayweather.

Now I see that I didn't have to praise Ward's skills like that but Kovalev is not taking 1# p4p spot in my list either

Mayweather was an athletic freak. Great reflexes, timing and lighting quick with single shots. I don't think we will ever see that again.

                Ward is more like Hopkins.

Boxers and athletes at the highest level in any sport have big egos. It doesn't matter if it's a very close fight they usually feel they were in control. A big ego and have a winning mentality is a big part of their success, so even if they feel they lost a close one most will still not admit it and I see nothing wrong with that.

That reach and power was keeping all other fighters honest, amazing upper body movement, I don't have mothing but respect for Mayweather's skills

But this fight showed that he's not that impressive if you can take away inside game from Ward, which is a difficult thing to do

So I will never say that Ward > Mayweather again

Ward had phenomenal reflexes as well but at this weight he's way slower and more vulnerable
