It's that time of year again. It's time to elect the 2016 Clown for Clown "Not" Fighter of the year award. First, let's recognize our past winners:

In 2016 we have had some stiff competition for this award. Primarily from the disgraceful middleweight division. The candidates are as follows:

Canelo Alvarez - Defended his WBC strap against the welterweight Amir Khan and ducked his mandatory by vacating the belt and beating a domestic level fighter in a shameless mistmatch.

Gennady Golovkin - Called Canelo out for fighting a welterweight and being a "business fight" not a "true middelweight fight" then proceeds to do the exact same thing by fighting the welterweight Kell Brook in another mismatch.

Daniel Jacobs - Waited until July to make a defense in a mismatch against Sergio Mora and is now asking for multi-milions of dollars to fight GGG for a legitimate title.

Billy Hoe Saunders - no explanation needed

Tyson Fury - Tests positive for *******, goes ape **** and will end the year with no fights.

Lucas Browne - Another PED test fail. Really tho?

Adonis Stevenson - Ambushes the ring after Kovalev fought, held back by a security team to pretend like he wanted the fight.

I have to vote Fury because of how gut-wrenchingly disappointing his year was. Jacobs, Saunders, and Stevenson may be clowns, but they're expected clowns. Golovkin and Alvarez may have had disappointing years, but they at least fought and picked up okay wins.

Fury was on top of the boxing world and threw it away.
