Comments Thread For: Lomachenko Likes Vargas Fight Next; Arum Prefers Salido

LAS VEGAS Vasyl Lomachenko mentioned the fighter who drew with Orlando Salido in 2016's probable "Fight of the Year" as the man he'd like to face next. Lomachenko's promoter prefers a rematch against Salido himself. Mexico's Salido defeated Lomachenko by split decision in the Ukrainian southpaw's second professional fight in March 2014.

Lomachenko rather fight for a worthless title instead of redeeming his first professional lost
He can only blame himself 20 years from now when they look back at his legacy and bring up that salido loss

He needs to redeem the salido loss. We all know he'll destroy salido now but if he doesn't actually do it, there will still be that delusional fan that will bring up that loss regardless of what Loma accomplishes and regardless of the fact that Salido was a complete dirt bag in their fight.

Vargas and Salidor are about the same level, but Vargas brings the WBC belt. Hope it happends with either one in LA.

              count the noses

Of all of the matchups at 126/130lbs that you could possibly think of for Vasyl Lomachenko, which of those matchups would have Top Rank in the driver's seat, dictating negotiations?

Uchiyama (assuming he wins the rematch) isn't leaving Japan for Lomachenko, Francisco Vargas and Jose Pedraza have options that won't make the talks so easy. And things get even worse when you look at 126lbs (with near all of the viable fighters at the weight on the other side of the fence, including the marketable guys at the weight).

So, in all honesty, you're left with the Salido rematch, Miguel Roman, the mandatory challenger Miguel Berchelt, Jhonny Gonzalez (who is more than likely being lined up for Vargas anyway), and Tevin Farmer/Claudio Marrero (tricky fighters, not tied to HBO's side of the fence, simply looking for their opportunity).

the rematch with Salido is really important for Loma's career.Good fighters often redeemed themselves when they lose fights especially if their conquerers are still actively fighting...typical examples are Lennox Lewis,Adonis Stevension
