This is my perspective exactly. Both great fighters, one in the top PFP for a long time, the other a newer entry. I think Lom has to pay his dues like Ward has before people just pop Lom at the very top. Once Lom has lived in the top PFP for a couple years, we can see where things settle.

Andre Ward, and it's not even all that close

For all of the brilliance of Lomachenko's style (and this is with having ignored the Walters fight), Lomachenko has already shown us that, when things get rough, he doesn't perform all that well.

Salido is a heck of a fighter, but the man is 43-13-4 for a reason (even if you ignore the "learning on the job" fights and count from the Marquez fight, Salido is still 20-5-2 (with 1 NC)). When the rematch comes, and Lomachenko is able to neutralize the rough stuff with craft, I'll revisit the point.

Andre Ward has been an undefeated fighter since he was 12/13 years old; tall, short, fast, slow, slugger, runner, and whatever other style you can think of, Andre Ward has seen it, figured it out, and ended up coming out on top every time.

I always look forward to seeing Ward and Lom, two of my three favorite fighters today. This is not a knock on them at all but the 3 fighters that made me count the days till they fought because of how exciting they were and how much I liked them was Sugar Ray Leonard and Roy Jones and Sal Sanchez. I haven't become attached to and excited about any fighters like I had with those three but time will tell. But Leonard had that style and a million dollar smile that won me over and he will not EVER be passed up as my favorite all time fighter by any other fighter as long as I live. And the best autograph ever. He drew a boxing glove with a smiley inside and his full autograph. And I emailed him a couple times and he responded back (I cant give out his email address). Back to the topic, I really like both ward and lom, almost equally, but ward is the sentimental favorite for me.

I think Loma is better. I am one of those guys who thinks Kovalev deserved a close but clear win. I had Kovalev winning by 3 points. I think a 175 pound Loma would beat Ward. He is faster and trickier than Ward. He has two great hands while Ward only has one great hand. Best of all Loma almost never wrestles clinches or holds and hits.
