  • Comments Thread For: Lomachenko's Chin The Only Unknown Entity in Against Walters

It isn't often in the sport of boxing where you find two fighters with such disparate records face off in a matchup that's virtually a 50-50 coin flip. But when Nicholas Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) and Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) collide in an intriguing showdown at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Saturday, that's exactly it.

    Lomachenko

I honestly think lomachenko will dominate walters pretty easy and i wouldnt be shocked if he stops him late.

I think it will be close for the first few rounds and I expect Loma to take over in the middle rounds, winning a wide UD.

I think Loma has a chin. We will find out tonight for sure.

If it goes rounds, we will see if Lom can take a clean shot and just because he has a great defense doesn't mean he wont take a clean shot at some point. I still think the loser will still be a serious player in the division. This is a total meshing of different styles.

Look, if Lomo didn't have a chin, he wouldn't have the record he had in amateurs, even with the headgear.

Lomo is superior in technique to Walters by quite a bit, but still expect it to be a good fight. Walters is not as big a puncher as some like to brag about, so to me that is not an issue.
IF Walters KO's Lomo, I will both be shocked and happy, by the way.

That is how quick he is that hitting him clean in the Chin won't be easy not even for Walters so if Walters head hunts and chase and KO vs Loma style he gets picked apart with Counters in Combos. Walters need to **** the body early and often to win this. Also Loma not going to stand still for him, Loma lateral move is already one of if not THE BEST in all of Boxing, nobody circles better IMO

I like both fighters so no prediction, I see it as another 50/50 type of fight

So many questions going into this fight, that's why i'm looking forward to it so much - all will be answered very soon.

                    1) indeed, does Loma have a beard ? Given all his other skills, if he's got whiskers like JCC Jr or GGG, then the rest may as well quit now. But does he ?

                    2) Can Walters catch him with a flush shot ? None else has been able to do it, Gary 'fastest hands in the business' Russell couldn't do it, can Walters ?

                    3) Why did Walters speed and mobility drop measurably between the Donaire and Sosa fights ? Weight issues ? Or just not amped for Sosa as he was for Donaire (and will be for Loma)

                    4) Factually, Walters put on a Duranesque amount of weight between the Sosa fight and now. Did he lose it correctly ? Will it affect him in the fight ?

                    5) Is Walters' power overstated ? His power rep comes mainly from 2 outings against 2 fighters who never really belonged at 126, Donaire and Darchinyan. Does his power carry to full 130 lbers ? (as Loma is now). eg Donaire's power never really carried to 126 (even though he hurt Walters, Walters showed he can recover).

                    6) Will the weight fluctuation affect other areas of Walters game ? eg Hatton's weight fluctuations contributed to a lower punch resistance that showed up against Collazo and got worse from there (disguised by his domination of Malignaggi as Malignaggi couldn't hit)

                    7) Is Loma's power game improving such that he might actually get Walters out of there (see 6)

So many questions, thats why its going to be such a great fight - all will be answered.

edit. 8) the bookies have Walters chance of winning about the same as Bellew's chance of beating Haye ! Do they know something we don't ? Or have they just got it wrong ?

                    Soo many questions......
