Getting a little irritated with people throwing Loma's name around all the time.

    (1) He's got to win against Walters first (ok he probably will, but Walters has skills, ****s hard, and there is no quit in him). All this talk of plans people have for Loma feel kind of disrespectful to Walters.

    (2) Flanagan is not in the same weight class as Loma. Sure Loma said he can get to 135 in a years time (not that he will, just that its the earliest time-frame if he went that way, and he only said that in reference to a possible weight and time-frame that he could meet Pac at, and is only talking Pac because he's being questioned about it...not like Khan who keeps begging for it). He's only just got to 130 too, and assuming he beats Walters, has business to attend to at 130 before 135 comes into the frame.

Then this assumes Flanagan gets past Verdejo ??

Actually, its the sort of fight Loma might just go up for IF he gets past Walters. Flanagan has a belt.....and Loma likes shiny things (again IF he gets past Walters).

LOL at Saunders - fighting Akbov at the Paisley Lagoon center [where??? WTF!!! ] instead of Rosario or Stevens in Texas front of 40,000 fans and on undercard of Canelo. Definition of cherry picking title holder. I wish Lee would have clocked him when they fought as he has a set.

I think you're right. Terry is a very good fighter. Loma seems to be elite level.

We'll know more after tonight but whereas most are playing it safe with a UD prediction I'll go out on a limb and predict a Loma KO between rds 6-9.

Saunders is fighting a guy where most bookies have him 1/100.

How does a guy who the bookies rank as a virtual no-hoper (and thats against Saunders...imagine his odds v GGG !!) get to be in the WBO top 10 ? Which significant opponent did Akavov need to overcome to rank so highly ?

Why isn't the WBO mandating an opponent who is at least viable like Khurtzidze, who is their No. 1 challenger supposedly.

If GGG fought Akavov, he would be ridiculed for picking someone with nothing significant on their resume - expletives would be flying all over the place.

That all said, Akavov is actually a complete unknown. He's only fought C grade fighters, and all we know about him as that he does what a good fighter should do to C grade opposition. But with nothing to go on vs B fighters or above (again what does it take to get ranked by the WBO ???), for all we know he might actually be quite good.

But if Saunders picked him, that suggests they see he isn't better than B grade - don't want to fight anyone who might actually win do we ?

Will Loma never be allowed to fight for a belt other than the WBO?
