Did Ward even land anything on Kovalev's head other than the occasional jab? I don't remember a single right hand from Ward landing through the whole fight.

This is what you call "true" boxing? Jabbing and clinching? Not a single right hand landed in the whole damn fight??? What a damn disgraceful joke. This is the reason why the sport is dying.

SOB Ward, Fraud Mayfeather and their styles should be banned from boxing. Cauz that aint boxing.

He started landing some hooks around rd 11. Before that nothing really besides the jab. Talking exclusively head shots though.

I think Kovalev is pretty slick, probably the fighter with the best head movement in the game today.

He landed plenty upstairs with both hands.

But even if he hadn't, I have a hard time believing you completely missed the left that knocked Kovalev thru the ropes at one point.

And BTW, a lot of the damage Ward did was downstairs and it showed late.

Eh. Odds are you can get a good right hand landing from Kovalev in every round. Even if his right hand was not landing at a great rate it was definitely there, Ward's punches besides the jab to the head were near non-existent, all his scoring came from the jab outside and the work inside to the body.

Still goes both ways even though Ward's right hand was noticeably more inconsistent, Kovalev didn't use his right hand no where near as we're accustomed to seeing.

Ward has always had a mediocre right hand. He is a converted southpaw with a strong left and a weak right. He landed some good left hooks on Kovalev in many different rounds.

i watched it again from rounds 6 onwards and its bothering me more and more. Ward barely did anything. Yes he stayed competitive in every round, but he barely landed a telling blow. Just goes to show you our minds are wired to create some sort of happy ending. Ward deserves credit for coming back and not bowing out but he definitely didnt win that fight.
