Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach Has No Issue With Ward-Kovalev Outcome

Last Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, veteran trainer Abel Sanchez sat ringside and watched Andre Ward win a twelve round unanimous decision over Sergey Kovalev to capture the IBF, WBO, WBA light heavyweight world titles.

Golovkin also apparently scored it close.

Me too. I ignore all the smack he talks about GGG usually anyway and give him a pass.

        He's nailed it here.

Can't wait for the rematch, dispel all the bs. In the event of a draw I would elevate Kovalev to no.2 p4p behind Andre, gotta beat the champ right ? Regardless these two are the best anyway, I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks.

If Sanchez acknowledges how close the fight was and isn't crying like a little girl about the decision, that seals it for me. People are overreacting to the knockdown and not realizing that there's a point system for a reason and Ward worked it to his advantage. No matter how you feel about the fight. It wasn't a complete and utter travesty as depicted by many people... I agree with Sanchez here. A round here or there made the difference. They're rematching to confirm or disprove the result. All that other stuff goes by the wayside...

Anyone see a pattern developing here?! Another headline saying someone has no issue with the outcome and then going on to say that he had KK as the winner. Pretty much everyone says it was a close fight. However, the vast majority, casuals and hardcore, say Kovalev won. Can we now say that Andre Ward has been exposed as not the fighting genius many say he is/was. Great fighter he may be but never in the class of Mayweather et al

Seems like everyone just accepts that since they feel Kovalev only beat him by a round or 2 that it's just OK that Ward got the decision. This is why you can't even get family to come to Boxing matches when you have free tickets.

My thoughts exactly. If it is that tight then why would you give it to the challenger?? There's a natural bias in here. Don't know whether it's a conscious or subconscious bias, but for KK it's got to feel ****.
