Gangs recruiting their new soldiers in boxing or sambo gyms, it's always been like this, so sports like boxing or any kind of martial arts always related to the crime world. That reminded me of some Russian UFC fighter who turned out to be hitman for some gang in Suthern Russian, or the other UFC fighter ( Shamhalaev ) that was gunned down in Dagestan recently

I take it you must live in America judging by your comments not everybody is a gangster in Martial Arts or boxing.

As this sad report proves, prowess in martial arts and boxing is no match for a bullet. And a gangster hitman doesn't need to be a boxer or a UFC fighter, all he needs is a gun and to be ruthless enough to use it.

In every nation, boxing and other combat sports thrive in poor, deprived areas, and so do criminals. That link has always existed and probably always will.
