Comments Thread For: Cuellar: I Will Knock Abner Mares Out, Have Him Near Retirement

WBA 'regular' featherweight world champion Jesus Cuellar believes that he will send Mexican Olympian Abner Mares to the brink of retirement next month. Cuellar (28-1, 21KOs) will defend against Mares (29-2-1, 15KOs) on December 10th at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles. The fight will be televised by Showtime in the United States and Televisa Deportes in Mexico.

Really looking forward to this one. If it wasn't buried in a great couple months of boxing I think it would be getting a lot more attention.

        cuellar looks huge for FW.

i can't wait to see him with roach in his corner. he might not be the most technical fighter around but no one can deny his working ethic, dude's been training since the fight first was announced and didn't stop when it was cancelled

DAMN!! He looks like a giant in the ring but he's huuuuge in that pic.

Cellular is super-talented but Mares is no joke. This is another great fight where we'll find out the truth about both guys.

the only truth we wil probably find out is that mares isn't a featherweight,he is too small,,,i think cuellar is a good boxer though, but mares to me is good but not at this weight, and cuellar will be very motivated for this fight, any fighter getting a win against an opponent that is popular does a lot for them, whether that guy was at his best or not

Cuellar by way of Knock-Out. I don't believe Mares has the fire inside him anymore, plus he's always changing trainers. Round 5 KO.

Súper talented? He is a ****, he was K.Oed for Escandon, his only good rival. But Mares actually is **** too and this guy is a natural lightweight, Abner a 122 pounds.

Mares was K.Oed for Jhonny Gonzalez and Leo Santa Cruz outboxed him.
