Agree - though they do have different styles and Ward is far more gifted that Paulie ever was, Paulie has a strong sense of solidarity with fighters who can only win by eeking it out on points. If Saturday night's judges had judged Paulie's fight with Broner, Paulie would have won a wide decision.

      100% agree. Good point.

It will be a close fight that could end at any moment. Nothing different from the first fight, although I believe Ward will make the necessary adjustments to frustrate Kovalev even more.

Paulie needs to take a breath and try remember what its like to be on the end of hometown bias. Many had him winning vs. Diaz in Texas, then all 3 judges gave it to Diaz (Gale Van Hoy 118-110).

At the end of the fight de La Hoya stated

'.....I believe that an independent governing body is necessary in the sport in order to ensure that when fighters fight another competitor in their hometown or home country, neutral judges and referees are always selected.....'

Malignaggi's now talking (and scoring) like a Texan judge.

As for the rematch, Kovalev knows he's not going to get a decision, and has stated he's going for the KO straight out the gate. The rematchwill see his press forward far more aggressively, and see Ward tying up more and employing more negating tactics. The fight will be a wrestle-fest where the referee has trouble from the outset. Difference will be who the referee takes points from, and if its Oakland, you know thats not going to be Ward. I see the rematch being even more controversial because of the in-fight fouling (from both) as Kovalev will do whatever it takes to get Ward off him.

Kathy Duva didn't do Kovalev any favors. How do you allow three American judges and Andre Ward to make 5 million against 2 Million for Kovalev? Maybe theres PPV or Europe money...

Exactly, He had Dirrell dominating Froch and ALgieri easily out pointing Provodnikov. It's pretty obvious he likes guys similar to himself to up his stock

If people keep saying this fight was close I might start believing it.
Kov won convincingly didn't he? Of course ward did well to survive after being knocked down but he didn't win. People at that point in 2nd round might have thought it's going to be short night
