Oh now Ward is past his prime now ey? I thought there would be no excuses, that Kovalev was fighting a PRIME WARD who shaked off his ring rust with the tune up bouts, now that he got his ass whooped it is now a passed prime ward? And guess what, Kovalev is in more Wars than Ward and is older.

Excuses? We don't need excuses. Ward won the fight. We are just wondering how much easier it would be for Ward if he was still in his prime.

I know this is a bait thread, but he's definitely slipped in my opinion. I think if it was rust or sharpness he would have got it back by now - if you watch his last 3 fights, and then watch his fights between 2011-13. It is night and day.

I'm surprised because nowadays you don't really see guys slip until their mid 30's, especially boxer types, but in Ward's case he definitely has slipped. His reflexes, hand speed, foot speed, and general ability to pull the trigger have all slowed down. He is to me about 80% of what he use to be.

In terms of fighting Kovalev - obviously he would have been more of a handful for Kovalev if he moved up in lets say 2013 and fought him then, although he may have been more vulnerable to getting ko'd also, he was more aggressive then, and is more careful now.

I hope I'm wrong and Ward gets sharper and back to his very best, but I'm not holding my breath, this is what we have now, he is still a great fighter, just not physically what he was, and definitely not the fighter he was in 2012, when a lot of people thought he was pushing ahead of Pac and getting close to Floyd for p4p number 1.

The even smaller man and weaker Andre Ward would get clipped and get crushed by the even bigger, heavier, stronger, hungrier, and even bigger Kovalev. When Ward was in his prime at 2011 he sc****d past Froch when Kovalev was in his Prime in 2011 he killed a man in the ring.

If prime Ward could beat Froch, then why couldn't a prime Ward also beat Kovalev? Froch DOES have a better resume than Kovalev, although Kovalev's certainly isn't bad.

Froch beat Kessler, Abraham, Pascal, etc., Kovalev's best wins are a past it Pascal and a Hopkins fossil.

"Dude, everyone knew that Ward was past it, even before the fight. That he managed to win after that long pause from the sport is just amazing."

WTF kind of lie is this? I never heard anyone say that.

                      Ward loses again.

That was a peak ward that lost to kovalev
On saturday. Kovalev can obviously hurt and put his man down. Ward was visibly hurt
