What a fight!!! I'd like to say RESPECK to both Ward and Kovalev. Saturday night showed what we've come to love about boxing. The best fighting and risking it, against the best. Now on to the fight itself.
There are a lot of upset fans and so called fans all around the world right now. Why? Because Ward rose off of the canvas in the second round, to win the fight. I knew Ward would go down early, until he adjusted to Sergio's punch. But once he got up, he was fine and took his power shots well, for the rest of the fight. The fight played out pretty much how I expected, honestly. Kovalev is a bully. Ward is a fighter you do not bully or KO. He is tough as nails. Sergio came out and won the first two rounds, clearly. In the 3rd round, the fight started to change into Ward's favor. From that point on, how many CLEAR rounds could you give Kovalev? All of you "upset" fans do not know how to score rounds. Y'all think just because Ward got knocked down, he was supposed to lose the fight. Nope. That's not how it works. Ward reduced Sergio to single jabs and the occasional right hand after the knock down. He neutralized his attack with his ring IQ, defense, and movement. Sergio would put Ward in headlocks and lean on his neck. He did it so much that a stern warning should've been issued but it wasn't. His idea of "in fighting", was holding and not actually letting his hands go. Why? Because he cannot fight on the inside and needs ROOM to hurt you. Down the stretch, he faded a bit from ward's defense, will, and body attack. He hurt Sergio a couple of times as well. Ward is now a HOF'mer and a rematch is necessary. In my opinion, Ward is now the best fighter in boxing. Manny is second, and GGG is third. GGG NEEDS to be in a fight like this. He needs to challenge himself against someone who can actually beat him. Guess who that guy is? Canelo! He will beat GGG WHEN they fight. The same guys who said Ward was ducking Kovalev, or wouldn't fight him, are the same guys who think Canelo won't fight GGG. Well, guess what??? HE IS GOING TO FIGHT HIM IN 2017 AND BEAT HIM!!!!!! You heard it here first. Actually I have been saying it for a while now.
