    Not up on the legalities of boxing..

    But if they trigger the rematch clause & Ward refuses to agree to it what does that mean? Say Ward refuses to fight on the grounds he isn't happy with the location does he essentially get sued?

    Lawsuit. I don't believe sanctioning bodies recognize rematch clauses.

      Do you know of any examples of this in boxing? Where a fighter would not agree to the rematch clause..

        I could be wrong, but the IBF is the only sanctioning body that does'nt honor rematch clauses, that was why Fury got stripped. If the other three oraganizations do have a rule they don't appear to follow it.

              Yes. Rahman wanted an interim fight, then Lewis sued and won. So the rematch went ahead.
