    Byrd Did A Great Job Reffing Kov Vs Ward...

    Let them fight out of the clinch and maintained order in the ring from both fighters...great fucking job by Robert Byrd!!!

    Yep thought he was spot on. Let them fight as much as possible, then broke them when the clinch was settled in.

    Also warned for genuine illegal moves (Kov pushing down on neck, Ward using forearm at one point).

      He did a good job. There was times when Kov would push down, times when Ward came in low. But he did a good job, let them fight it out when it was an option.

      What's the story with refs and immediate rematches? They usually go with another ref don't they?

        Agree with all here. I can't understand how anyone had a problem with him.

        In fact, the only time he did anything bad was the long ass speech he gave before they touched gloves. other than that he did a great job IMO.

          He saved ward gave prolonged speeches in crucial moments on purpose imo.

            Exactly...he was totally unbiased and warned both fighters evenly...even said he "ain't taking none of that shit"

              Yeah...they usually have a different ref for the rematch...floyd complained about tony weeks reffin' in the first maidaina fight...in the rematch...kenny bayless was the ref...

                    I think as fans we've gotten used to refs that like to be part of the action. Instead, Byrd did just what he should-stay the **** out of the way and interject only when there were headlocks, low blows, and at the end of a round to prevent fouls.
