  • Eduard Gutknecht in an induced coma after surgery for bleeding on the brain

Eduard Gutknecht had surgery for bleeding on the brain. He's in an induced coma.

This is all too similar to what happened to Magomed Abdusalamov.

Gutnecht's corner was irresponsible and they and the referee let the fight continue after he was badly hurt.

I was very surprised when watching it that there seemed to be little desire from anyone to stop it at least 2 or 3 rounds before the end when he was clearly getting beaten up very badly. This is not a good look for boxing on British tv, there have now been three (Towell, Blackwell, Gutknecht) bad instances this year which have all been on terrestrial tv in the UK.

But in the UK they blamed the Eubank's instead of Blackwell's corner. Hope dude has a great and blessed recovery.

I didn't see many people blaming the Eubank's. Most in UK boxing seemed to put it all down to bad luck as Gary Lockett is considered a good man who is usually very responsible when it comes to pulling his fighter out and the fans like Loughlin as a ref because he lets fights go on more than most British refs so he wasn't blamed as much as he probably should have been.

I remember the headlines from many articles from Warren and others saying that Eubank was to blame. We all know the SkySports or Matchroom fiasco against the Eubanks. I even recall a Pierce Morgan having to state that its boxing, what do you expect..

The complaints were against Eubank Sr for claiming credit for telling his son to show mercy during the fight (which wasn't true)
