See and this is the reason Kovalev lost the fight in people eyes (not mines). The problem with being the aggressor and NOT getting in and doing ENOUGH damage is that instead of it becoming EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION (A Scoring Criteria), it now become INEFFECTIVE AGGRESSION and now you are scoring against yourself which is ****** imo, especially if the opponent aint doing no damage back and is just walking straight back away from you like ward did.

See Even paulie said all kovalev had to do was cut off the ring and not follow ward and he would catch him. Which means ward wasn't doing anything "special", not avoiding kovalev with lateral movement or setting traps or anything beside just going in reverse (this is not footwork or ring generalship) but since kovalev is the aggressor and didnt get in enough damage or win these moments big/dramtic than in these situation it looks to the eye that kovalev is failing which is far from the case. For instance if you take the same action (leather landed, blocked/slipped punches etc) in this so-called "ineffective aggression" moment and put them in the center of the ring Kovalev would win that moment with that same action (leather landed, blocked/slipped punches etc) cause he would outland, outbox and outscore ward.

The problem with pressure You either win it big and it becomes effective aggression or you shoot yourself in the foot and they will score it against you as ineffective aggression.

Paulie is right. It seems like the criteria people struggle with the most in scoring boxing is effective aggression. People think just because you're coming forward, it's effective. Ward went where he wanted and fought when he wanted to fight. Now, if Kovalev had cut the ring off and initiated his offense, that would have been effective aggression and ring generalship. Unfortunately for him, he did neither.

I tried to read this but it seems like there was some punctuation absent.

So which round did he score the draw? The knock down second round? If that's the case it's pathetic biased scoring and his opinion is worthless.

Ward was a defensive wizard last night, he dodged practically everything Kovalev threw, very ineffective. There is a reason why Ward didn't touch the canvas again after getting dropped by a jab.
He took most of the pop of Kovalev's punches with his body work and rolling with them and flat out made him miss, if you can't see that YDKSAB
Did you even watch the fight?

kovalev's pressure ineffective despite scoring a big KD, despite busting up ward's face, despite outlanding and outworking ward, despite landing more power punches, despite hurting ward multiple times, etc. etc. hahahahahahahahahahaha paulie is the worst.

Yes, watch it in slow motion and you'll see Kov was hitting air most of the time. The HBO crew kept crediting Kov for missed shots such as the one at the end of round 9 or so, the replay showed he clearly missed. He got credited for 10 power punches in round 10 by Compubox, yet Kov fans won't be able to show me those 10 power shots because they didn't land.

I told everyone that Ward could climb off the deck and win.

and I told everyone that whenever Kovalev looked like he wanted a breather, he would be required to fight

and I also said that the very simple gameplan - of stepping back whenever Hopkins looked to initiate, and counter - that worked perfectly for Kovalev against Hopkins would not work on Andre Ward..... distance management was always going to be a much more difficult prospect

and everyone was wrong about the Chilemba fight, the same problems that Kovalev had in spots during that fight, were exacerbated with Ward
