Comments Thread For: Hearn: A Rematch is Most Lucrative Option For Ward, Kovalev

T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV - Matchroom Sport's Eddie Hearn is in agreement with the scores of last night's unanimous decision victory by Andre Ward (31-0, 15KOs) over Sergey Kovalev (30-1, 26KOs) . He had Ward winning but understood why many people had Kovalev coming out on top.

Drain the swamp in boxing....these type of decisions hurt the sport of boxing more than people realize....people will not want to tune in next time because they know the fix is in...if Fighter A doesn't knockout Fighter B (Fighter B being the darling of the sport) then the cards get cooked in favor of the darling....very predictable....all fighter b has to do is survive the 12 rounds and he knows he won....very predictable

Let's see what the numbers look like before writing off the drawing ability. The fight almost had 14k coming to Vegas to see live, and we're still a good 7-10 days away from the first sturdy projections for the PPV.

I think a rematch Is the right thing to do.
There aren't any other names at LHW for either man.
I do think a rematch favors Ward because he will be better prepared and more of a LHW.
I felt like Kovalev was the bigger stronger puncher and award was the better boxer.
If Ward can bulk up a little to negate some of the attributes then he should win more smoothly.

Stevenson won't go near either guy so make the rematch happen. Then winner can face that guy who stopped Chilemba, Gvozdyk. He looks the real deal, I wouldn't try it on with his women in his vicinity, let him mature a little further but he looks as ready as he will ever be. Hopefully during all this Beterbiev will face Stevenson at some stage.

Rematch will be huge... They need to make it ASAP, probably next March or April...

Not sure what the PPv buys will be for the first fight, but the rematch will surely double or triple it up.

Good fights, with controversial endings always do better numbers in the rematch
