Is Ward-Kovalev our next new great trilogy?

B*tching aside, I really think we may possibly have our next new great trilogy on our hands. We have lacked one for a while because the modern fighters mentality is to come out of a tough fight like that and move on, rather than risk a hard fight again. They will make up every excuse to move on.

But with Kov exercising his rematch clause (and Duva describing it as iron clad), we may just get a couple more fights. And that to me would be great, because some of the greatest moments in history have come from great trilogies. They leave a legacy in themselves.

I'm telling you man, last nights fight was special. I know it was ugly for periods and lacked barn-storming activity but we saw two modern great fighters in there. It felt like a truly meaningful fight, one that stays with you.

    Two more please

I really hope so. I'll take as many fights that good as I can get.

I agree with a lot of what you have said, really enjoyed the fight, this and the Santa Cruz vs Frampton were my two fav's for this year, for similar reasons.

I hope we get the rematch - my only regret is that Ward is past his best, and looks to be on a bit of a decline, but maybe that's what makes the matchup more competitive.

I have a feeling Ward will go for Stevenson next, and fight the Kovalev rematch at the end of the year, just a gut feeling I have.

Yes, this is almost as good as the Pacquiao - Marquez rivalry.

It may take 2 fights, maybe 3, but there will be a decisive victor in the end.
