Kovalev p4p #1 Ward #2

I don't care if you had Ward winning. Kovalev proved last night he can box his ass off. P4P isn't about how you look knocking out bums in impressive fashion. It's about how you look against top competition. After last night who do you see outboxing Kovalev? Ward didn't outbox him. He had to dig deep and will his way to a win.
I'm happy for Kovalev. Dude goes anywhere to fight anybody. Doesn't complain about money or the politics of the sport. Even last night he didn't whine. He just wants his rematch and settle it in the ring. He made a lot of new fans last night. My casual friends were texting me saying he got robbed. I hope the PPV numbers are good for Kovalev's sake. He deserves to be a household name.
He showed the exact opposite.
Ward took away his body jab and replaced it with his own.
If you think Kovalev is the best fighter in boxing....you sir....need a CAT scan.Comment

Ward clearly isn't p4p top 10 after one gift in 4 years of mediocrity, let alone no. 2.
Kovalev showed last night that he has undoubted skill along with his power and is p4p no. 1, depending on how you would view GGG and Gonzalez, as well as what happens with Wlad/AJ and where you rank a come backing Pacquiao.Comment

There may not be a tougher fighter to outbox in the entire sport than Kovalev. His footwork and jab make it hard to find your shots. His timing and accuracy means he wins most exchanges. His power makes you reluctant to enter exchanges. If Andre Ward can't outbox him, than no one around LHW can. You have to go to war, get inside, and make it ugly, and even then you probably take too much punishment.
Krusher is a really damn good fighter.Comment

Ward was also seriously impressive. Never had to see him dig in and come back like that, and he gutted out a close fight, at the least, and obviously got the nod officially. Huge night for him as well.
Both guys showed so much against their best opponent.Comment
