What will happen with Kovalev's career in the future?

I think his career might be finished now, because he's in that high risk/low reward position. Casual fans are not interested in seeing him fighting another non-US fighters like Shabranskyy or Gvozdyk, because they're not marketable and it's not likely that he will get the rematch with Ward, or fight with Adonis who would prefer to go after Ward. Not to mention that he might be past his prime

So what you think, what's the future of his career?

He has a fan friendly style of fighting and that's good enough for most fans of the sport

Maybe, but the question is, will he get any meaningful fights after that?

I wouldn't be fighting in America again.

To have your undefeated record and world titles stolen by home cooking/corrupt judges is something that would leave a very lasting level of anger.

Not sure what he will actually do, but you can only assume it will be a Ward rematch. Probably in Ward's back yard and Ward's family members as the judges.

HBO has Sergey Kovalev signed to a longterm deal, Andre Ward is under no further obligation to HBO (unless Roc Nation, after all the **** that HBO gave then in picking opponents, happened to sign some "first right of refusal on the 4th fight" deal with HBO), and there are lesser known prospects coming along under the HBO-affiliated promoters (Shabrankskyy, Gvozdyk, Monagan, possibly Joe Smith Jr [if he KOs Hopkins], etc).

Kovalev goes back to being a regular HBO fighter (if the PPV numbers looks good) and taking on fights to position him for another title shot, with HBO talking him up as a killer the whole way.

The moment that Kovalev looks like he's near slippage (or the deal is about done), HBO runs with Golovkin-Kovalev (@168lbs) and hopes that Golovkin doesn't get knocked off.

Not if Showtime signs a deal with Ward (3 years, 9 fight options, with a total downside guarantee of $20m).

People enjoy watching Kovalev and believe he won last night. I don't think the loss will hurt his popularity. He's is still far more marketable than anyone else in the division, possibly even more so than Ward.
