we can only nail the facts down to boxing's judging criteria.

this is a matter of Ward losing on every single judging criteria.
Close fight but Kov lost, didn't do enough to win the rounds in the second half

I actually didn't find it that hard to score I had it 114-113 Ward , every round was IMO had a clear winner the only really close found was the 6th which I gave to Kov

Kov started real strong but didn't do enough in the second half

you mean the holding and rabbit punches?

Kovalev landed a good portion of those in the clinches too.

ok so i give you the clinching rabbit punches to the body. that is still not enough to offset everything in the OP.

So Ward beat Kovalev by running in clinching and baby punches to the ribs? while losing ring general ship, damage, and punchstats.

is this what boxing has come to?

          I'm afraid so.

answer this question, does Kovalev hold in any other fights? nope.

What is the common denominator here? What happens in every single one of Ward's fights. Clinching and holding.

He is the reason. He'd keel over almost horizontally and shoot an upward jab then run straight in to grab. of course Kovalev would walk him into the ropes to bully him. but the clinch and holding is 100% initated by ward or you don't know what you're watching.
That is horrible logic. You're just using a predetermined view of how you thought the fight would play out. Kovalev was the one clamping down Wards arms trying to prevent Ward from working on the inside while he was peppering him with body shots.

how could Kovalev clamp down on Ward's arms if Ward didn't throw up underhooks?

              can you even think?

Ward was initiating all the holds, Kovalev was simply not allowing him to do his usual hit and hold work on the inside.

Ward genuinely landed nothing but jabs, it was a terrible display from an offensive standpoint. He clearly lost the fight.

Exactly. Ward got thoroughly outboxed. he never even landed his right hand upstairs. that's how ridiculous it was. they count Ward's jabs and rabbid arm digs in the clinch over Kovalev's actual boxing, power shots that did damage.

                  it's insanity.

It's the American way. You get awarded trophy and told you're special, even when you lose.

Ward just needed to not get knocked out, the judges were corrupt.
