164, maybe 2017. That's all that needs to be said. Golovkin didn't want the fight.
People seriously still think Ward was serious about GGG offer?

Ward hasn't made 168 in years. His last time making that weight was 3 years ago. He fought Smith at a catchweight of 172 long before he challenged GGG in the media. He had long outgrown 168 and had no intention of fighting GGG at 168.Comment

They went from anybody from 154-168 to only Froch & Chavez Jr at 168 & Mayweather at 154 no Canelo at 155 & Rodriguez at 164 we aren't sure Ward can make 168 but we'll take the fight at 164. We would've fought DeGale at 168 but Hearn offered us a welterweight so we took that fight. But if Hearn would've offered us DeGale at 168 of course we would've taken it. But we did tell Ward we'd fight him at 168 in 2017 if he was still at 168. But in 2015 we admitted we weren't even sure if he could make 168.
These guys are full of excuses. I think people are finally starting to realize the only drama show is the drama in contract negotiations.Comment

if you look at the timeline and the rhetoric from both teams it's obvious that they didn't want the fight. ward had been out for a long time and was movig to 175 lbs.
he went to las vegas and weighed in for a fight against sergey kovalev yesterday. you think he "ducked" a 160 lber?
fighters typically don't pick who they fight. they can pick who they don't fight, but they don't make fights and negotiate. they get contracts and their management goes through them and tells them if it's a good fit or not.Comment
