Look at these appealing fight options for Sturm:

Taylor (already turned it down)
Abraham (apparently turned down a $1.5 million offer)
Wright (tied up with Taylor and rematch if he wins)
Miranda (waiting on a mandatory shot vs. Abraham)
Soliman (this would be a great fight)
Pavlik

So through his own reluctance (Taylor, Abraham) and the result of turning down those offers (other contenders getting shots at those two "champions"), he has few options, BUT there are options better than this crap.

Hell, even Sergio Mora would be a much more appealing fight than f'ing Castillejo, a guy who has lost to DLH and a past-it Vargas, and has been at 154 for MOST of his career. This is sick.

What's next? Raymond Joval? Why not, Abraham almost fought him. Another past-it Vargas victim.

Maybe they're trying to set up a Sturm-Vargas middleweight fight, not a bad fight that can be made--if Sturm is willing to take it of course.

Fighting winner of Abraham vs Miranda would be an awesome fight for him I think. But Miranda would beat him, and I think he beats Abraham by close UD.

Not sure why you brought the State of Alaska (AK) into this, as Jermain has never fought there professionally. Also, Memphis IS in Jermain's backyard. Sturm was avoiding an asswhip'n, plain and simple. Pretty smart move on his part, actually. He wants to protect his German fanbase, and he wouldn't be doing that by getting dropped to canvas in the 6th round by the Middleweight Champ of the World.
