"There is no Crying in Boxing"

Should a fighter really be able to Cry?

I mean, it is "heart-warming" to see a tough person cry, but isn't it best suited for a girl, not a warrior?

You see athletes cry in the NFL, MLB, especially NBA and "Football" {soccer}, but should a boxer really be able to cry?

Why not? I'd be lying if I said I've never cried because of sports. It's a touchy subject man, especially when you lose important matches.

I should of made it a little more clear..IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY, IN FRONT OF A CROWD, EVEN IN A BIG WIN?

I know it is touchy, but shouldn't you save it for behind closed doors?

Look at some of the big name guys we consider tough, Foreman, Tyson, Holyfield, etc.

Foreman, came back from god knows where, won the title in his 40's, while being counted out by just about everybody, was getting beat up to the point when he finally landed some hard shots to stun and that one big shot to knockout Moorer.

Tyson, well this guy has to be one of the most emotionally messed up fighters we have seen, yet I can't recall him ever crying after a win or a loss...though he did have a few breakdowns later on, like the Lewis situation.

        Holyfield..well, never seen him cry

I've seen Mayweather and Cintron cry. Can't remember too many others doing it recently. I don't know why the hell Mayweather was crying after he beat Gatti. Maybe because he knew he'd made it to the big time?

It was touching when Cintron was crying. I really felt for him, cause I could tell he really wanted it. He's one of my favs now.

In my opinion mayweather should have known he made it when he defeated gernero hernandez

mayweather was talking a gang of **** about gatti, then he crys after knowing he'd beat him and the boxing world knew gatti was going to lose to mayweather

                  Good post.

If you something in sport brings you to tears, it shows the passion you feel for your game. Nothing to be ashamed of.

There is alot of emotion in sports let alone in boxing, for instance you can see Popo Frietas fighting back tears on his way to the ring during several fights. It's not that he's scared or a girl, he's just touched by the support and devotion his fans have. Add that to the rawest sport, boxing/combat, and it's easy to get caught up in the moment.
