Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: BT Sports Deal Has Leveled The Playing Field

Very much like the old eighties hit, I too feel like I'm walking on sunshine at the moment and it wouldn't be over-egging the pudding to say the sun is shining on the great sport of boxing.

He doesn't quite have the talent pool that Hearn has, but he could import all those US fighters dying on the vine with no tv money.

It could become that much harder for Canelo or Golovkin to get Saundes now. Frank's probably going to want to keep him an undefeated champion.

I think Frank is really over-stating how important this is. When he launched Boxnation wasn't the tune that this was great as it meant not relying on other TV networks? This new deal suggests he needs more money and his fighters need more exposure than his experiment was able to give them. Hearn isn't perfect but unlike Warren hasn't had any of his ex-fighters sue him for non-payment or shoot him in an attempted murder. Plus most of his guys are active already so I'd be surprised if Warren's public effort to tempt them his way works out.

Everybody has the potential to be tempted by new offers, fighting for Hearn or whoever and sitting tight with a promoter isn't necessarily the be all and end all. Besides, more boxing is easily accessible to more people. It can only be a good thing for boxing.
I don't play favourites with promoters, I'm in it for the boxing.
