Fwiw I agree, this era is weak. Ward will undoubtedly be a HOF but the level of his competition will make it difficult to crack top 50 ATG status even with Kovalev and Stevenson on his resume.

fair enough...but i still think Ward should make a run at it.
If he handles kovolev, then he solidifies himself as a true ATG! and not just an ATG 168er..
If he dominates Kovolev like how hopkins did tito, then it would be even more impressive as Ward is going up in weight unlike hopkins who was the bigger guy vs tito..
Hard to tell exactly where a guy will be as an atg when he is still active, but beating kovolev I would put Ward ahead of guys like Oscar, barrera, Mosley, forrest, winky, carbajal, morales, Camacho, benitez, etc...
He would be on the same level as a hopkins, hearns, hagler, Chavez
