    Mayorga Fails Drug Test!

    Mayorga fails drug test!

    Thursday, May 11 2006

Ricardo Mayorga has tested positive for a banned substance in his post fight drug test. The former WBC super welterweight champion tested postive for the drug Lasix and is now facing a NASAC hearing where he is likely to be fined, suspended or both. Rosendo Alvarez, who tested positive for the same substance last month, was fined and suspended by the commission until 2007.

This explains Mayorga's crazy act in trying to demand more money close to fight night. He realized this was going to be his last big pay day after getting caught using an illegal substance.

yea... we know. upsetting how some fighters gotta use illegal stuff to make weight. Why dont they start earlier. I understand how hard it is, but if u cant make it by weigh in, then u take ur fine like a man. Dont take illegal substances. U KNOW ur gonna get tested. just a ****** move.

I remember Toney (maybe Marvin Hagler, but i think it was James Toney) who said that the hardest part about boxing isnt the fight, but making the weight. Toney never used illegal substances and made weight more then enough times.

.....In reference to Toney, he may not have needed them to make weight, but for some reason he needed them when was over weight.
