    Whine on Comp in Boxing

People want fighters to take chalanges or fight prime comp ,but do fights like this sells or pull numbers???No,and why it is? you all want them to take challanges, yet numbers do not lie.

I have a question who took more challanges and prime comp ,ODLH or FLoyd and who sold more? its not about comp, its about hype and how you sell it.

Boxing just need new star with hype in USA like AJ in UK ,calm down 50s wont come back,2 biggest stars just retired (Pac still araund but nothing big),give boxing some time.

Conor mcgregor fought Diaz and Washed up Alvarez yet it do huge numbers cuse of hype, its not like Conor is takeing best of the best every time,in MMA people win some lose some, and its easier to make big fight.

I have to agree. Before the fight, I said I've been watching Alvarez for years and he's pretty shop worn at this point. Yes, he still has his moments but his main asset at this stage is experience and he's the first to say he threw away his gameplan and fought ******.
However, I think the ratings were good because the card was stacked as fuq.

Regarding quality fights, people love drama and hype. Mayweather didn't sell huge numbers because of his talent alone. He created a character, ignited drama, built confidence with his fans and make his haters tune in because they were desperate to see him get beat.

This Saturday will be a good barometer for seeing if the "best fighting the best" is truly what the fans want.

Well, you may be right about the fans not wanting to see the best fight the best. For me, personally though, it is essential. If not, then what's the point? Stevenson can keep KOing bums until the cows come home, but I won't care at all. Kovalev-Ward is great to me no matter what the outcome. Like any great story, it poses questions and only when they fight, do those questions get answered, usually. I think this is why I don't care for mythical match-ups. At the end of the day, they ain't happening. Why debate over it when there's no way to know what would happen? No, putting he two best guys in there against each other is the only thing I find exciting, pre-fight. It may not sell, but as a fan, it's what I care about. Mayweather-Ortiz did big numbers, but come on. It was pointless and proved nothing. And I am a boxing fan. I don't get excited about how something got marketed and think 'Oh wow. What a great marketing scheme! Who cares about the actual fight?' I mean, WTH? I just care about the fights.

Oh sure man. There are always good fights happening. Sometimes you have to look for them and the big fights often fall short of the hype, but boxing produces gems every year. There is no doubt.
