  • Comments Thread For: Cotto Puts Pressure on Canelo To Fight, Sets Retirement Deadline

Former four division world champion Miguel Cotto is planning to retire from the sport on December 31, 2017. Cotto has been out of the ring since losing a twelve round unanimous decision to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez last November at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Their fight generated 900,000 purchases on pay-per-view - which is the closest any boxing event has come to reaching a million PPV buys since last May's mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

This probably just killed GGG 2017 schedule.

Why would Cotto want to face this light heavyweight again? might as well call out GGG if this is the case...

I wouldn't be opposed to a rematch between the 2 however Canelo needs to move up weight and challenge guys in the Middleweight Division.

Cotto should try to fight the elite at 154 the Charlos, Lara, J-Roc or make catch weight fights with Bradley, Marquez, or Vargas.

Canelo should get Lemieux or Billy Jo Saunders then finish the year off with GGG.

Hopefully both fight 3 times this year. Cotto is a first ballot hall of fame. Hopefully he gets another title shot before he hangs up the gloves.

Cotto VS Canelo wouldn't be different from the first fight...I prefer Cotto vs Bradley

It's his biggest payday out there more than Bradley of course if Floyd did him the favor it would be most. He knows he will be fighting a light heavy that night but knows if he moves enough holds enough boxes in circles away from his cement feet. But Canella has fast hands hits hard and uses combos good good body work can cotto stay away enough? Study Buddy Mcgirt vs Simon brown. Blue print how to beat bigger man. Willy pep vs saddler etc
