Expect a competitive affair. Kovalev is the real deal, he can definitely box. I say Ward averages a lead of between 3-4 points across the three judges' scorecards.

115-112 X 2, 116-111 for Kovalev. I think he will get a knockdown and win clearly but Ward will win rounds and give a tough challenge.

Either Ward is going to be able to neutralise Kovalev in which case it'll be a fairly wide UD for Andre, or he ain't and Kovalevs offense will cause him to go into a Hopkinesque survival mode for a wide Kovalev UD or possible KO. There's other scenarios of course, Kovalev could start strong but Ward take over once he starts to adjust to Sergeis movement and timing, or Ward could start to tire late a la Froch, particularly if it's a very physical fight...

Ah, anyway ... my inability to decide is what makes this so intriguing for me ... either way I think it's a clear victory for one guy or the other.
That's the way I'm seeing it too..... one of these guys is going to find out he can't pull off what he planned to do in the fight. Whether it be that Kovalev's power is such a shock to Wards system coupled with his ability to hang with him boxing skill wise that it permanently shells him up in he fight allowing Kovalev to work at a measured pace like the Hopkins fight and win a wide UD or score the late KO. Or that Kovalev actually can't live with Ward in a boxing match and is unable to land his power cleanly and consistently enough to stop him getting outscored by Andre in every round on his way to a wide UD loss.

yeah, 9 or 10 rounds unless it gets stopped first. can see ward hitting the deck early and going into his shell, a bit like hopkins fight but not quite as one sided. you cant beat kovalev having fought nobody for 5 years. 5 years is a long long time. people are going to be in disbelief after the fight, but they should have seen this coming off a long way. being tricky and awkward isnt enough to beat kovalev, youve got to be able to have the power to keep him honest, which ward doesnt have. Im betting no money on kovalev purely because its 3 american judges and an american ref. People think im making my prediction based cause i dont like ward much (which i dont) but it seems a pretty ****ing obvious prediction to me that the guy whos been dominating at light heavy will beat a guy whos not been in competitive match ups since 2010 at super middle

If Kovalev wins a decision, I think he wins a 9-3, 10-2 shockingly clear decision. Any close fight probably means Ward is doing too many good things to lose.

My official prediction is an 8-4ish Ward win with a KD on top.
