I consider any athlete in any mainstream American sport or Soccer, with the exception of Golf, to be past their best form after age 35. I think that is the most widely accepted unofficial magic number for male athletes. Of course, some athletes defy that magic number and compete against the best for longer than that age. Some are unfortunate and fall much shorter than age 35
For example, there's evidence that a 35 year old Floyd (VS Cotto) and older, was a different fighter. Floyd got hit a decent amount of times vs Cotto, Maidana, and Pacquiao, which was coincidentally all fights on or after age 35. I had him winning all of them, but they were all very competitive fights, more competitive than one (who favored Floyd going into those fights) would have anticipated
