Are 'tune ups' really that essential?

seriously what is the point, especially if you are fighting someone who these fighters could beat in their sleep? For example, garcia v vargas, is the experience of fighting vargas really going to make garcia that much better when he fights thurman? I'd argue that top quality sparring gets them more 'fight ready' than the 40 mins or less they spend in the ring against some bum, that doesnt prepare them for a top fighter at all. Why did ward need 4 tune ups before fighting kovalev? Why is jacobs insisting on a tune up against GGG? Is he suddenly going to be twice as dangerous when he fights ggg cause hes beaten up some bum before hand? Just seems a lot of fighters **** their pants when they get offered a big fight 'oh no i cant possibly fight someone good, i need a warm up fight against some no hoper' Just think the fighters these days exploit the word 'tune up' as a way of taking an easy fight and making some easy money.
Tune ups/soft touches are fine if you have been out of the ring for a while(like 9+months), had a couple tough fights in a row, coming off a loss or injury, or you are moving up in weight. Even then the opponent needs to be at least respectable if you are a top flight guy. Beating up on guys that have zero business in the ring with you is a joke. For your example there is no defending Danny fighting Vargas, a guy that a prospect lit up in four rounds is suddenly in the ring with the WBC WW champ, and a guy many claim should be in the top 10 p4p. GTFO Danny and those defending this **** should be ashamed of themselves.

Let these fighters remain active if they like hell you use the excuse for GGG why cant other fighters get that pass?
im not giving him a pass, no excuse for GGG fighting twice this year, especially at his age.

ffs , theres a **** load of great fights for garcia at welterweight. ANd i seriously seriously doubt hes not getting the fights cause hes 'avoided'. Really dont want to turn this into another 'ggg v (insert fighter here) thread' but jesus christ, the circumstances of the two fighters is a bit different. Had garcia turning down pacquiao, and refusing to fight spence cause hes not proven enough. GGG has pretty much chased everyone in his division and if you disagree i cant be bothered to respond cause your just disagreeing for the sake of it. and a year of beating wade and brook is ****, im not defending it

im not complementing him, but if he was ducking saunders, eubank, jacobs etc so fight wade as a 'warm up' for a bigger fight, then i'd be slating him

If you had ever stepped foot in the ring you wouldnt be asking this type of question.

Garcia has been out of the ring since January (keeping in shape is all well and good, but there's a different physical preparation that goes into a hard 8-week camp for a fight). Getting that camp out of the way keeps Garcia sharp in then heading into the 8-week camp for the Thurman fight.

Jacobs isn't insisting on ****; nice try for you to sneak that in, though

Shabransky wanted 600k you ****sucking wanker.... how could Rodriguez be a tune up when he was a top ten super middleweight.

I don't know why you have such high standards for everyone except your hero....

Didn't you say the winner of Golovkin vs Brook would leave the ring a legend? only a certified phaggot would say that.

hes a nobody. If the other three werent tune ups, what excuse was there for fighting them? Cause thats what ive been told 'oh who cares hes fighting bums, they prepared him for kovalev', so what is it? were they tune up fights or not?
