Can somebody explain SRL to me?

Everywhere I go I see articles and posts about how Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest fighter to bless this Earth. Now I've watched all of the highlight videos and he looks pretty diesel but all of his opponents weren't even trying to block his shots. Is there some secret puzzle piece that I'm not seeing here?

P.S. Meant to talk about Robinson wasn't thinking clearly for a bit.
