Comments Thread For: Jessie Vargas-Manny Pacquiao: Pre-Fight Report Card

by Cliff Rold - Manny Pacquiao is an easy fighter to take for granted. One day, sometime sooner than later, Pacquiao will be viewed entirely through the lens of history. His talent, remarkable longevity, and fairly consistent level of opposition, all the things we take for granted now, will be part of his full picture of greatness...

"It's funny though when you look at Pacquiao in 2016. He'll only have fought twice this year. Take a look at the last welterweight top ten at TBRB and you'll see that it's once more than most of the top ten. It's also his second time this year against someone consensus rated in the top ten of the division.

That's once more than several other rated welterweights and twice more than others. Pacquiao is 37 and his perceived lesser fights this year are coming more consistently and frequently than younger men whose career resumes can't carry Pacquiao's bucket and aren't active enough to dream of catching up."

I get that Manny's held to a higher standard. And rightfully so. But it speaks volumes when he gets blasted for supposed cherry picking...when the dude is fighting a consensus top ten guy in the division. That just goes to show how great he has really been.

Meanwhile "top" welters like Danny Garcia is fighting motherf**king Samuel Vargas...who's rated #42 in his division

If fighting a 2 weight class champion with all his major fighting skills being graded an A or B Then I need to quit watching and supporting the sport. Any other division Vargas would be rated within the top #3. I LOVE his new KILLER overhand right even iron chin Bradley felt that one hit. If it would of came earlier I don't think Bradley survives the round. Fkn POS referee needs to learn the rules.

I actually think this os going to be an AWESOME fight which I'm buying.

Would have been nice if they could have giving the fans an HBO fight here with the GGG vs Jacobs fight not getting made. This isn't an awful match up but not a great one either. I would consider buying the card if Stephen A. Smith wasn't doing to the commentary.
