I didn't know that. Thanks. But wouldn't 2004 be more like it? He didn't fight that year. He had his debut in 2002 in his home country, Venezuela where he had 8 fights-- all of which he won on the first round-- before moving to CA in '03.

But how much brain damage can one sustain if one has been fighting one round every time one goes up the ring? Anyhow, it looks like the damage wasn't all that bad because he resumed fighting after a year and compiled five fights in '05.

Or, the extent of the damage may not show until he is truly tested in a rugged fight he cannot abbreviate in the fashion that he has up to now.

Heya Chups! Is it because of the brain injury? No doctor shall let him? I notice that all his fights after the 2004 hiatus were all outside the US-- his home country of Venezuela, Japan, France, Panama and Argentina.

Yes the U.S. refuses to give him the license.

Hi Blockhead. Thanks. How was the damage inflicted? His last fight before the hiatus was against Tomas Zambrano, in Irvine, which was halted at one minute, 45 seconds. Needless to say, it was Zambrano who failed to continue. Prior to that, Valero could not have stayed atop the ring for a cumulative period of half an hour, over 11 fights, because none of the previous fights lasted three minutes.

I'm still wondering how he got injured and the extent of the injury relative to the total time he spent on top of the ring. Thanks, Chups.
