I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. No need for ongoing arguments all the time.

I've seen cases of Kovalev fans become less confident, even laying some foundations to cover the tracks in case of a loss. Excuses, cheating talk ect.
I've see cases of guys who mocked Kovalev's ability and labelled him a hype job for so long, suddenly change their opinion 360 as soon as the fight was a go'er and start labelling him as a beast..again to cover tracks if Ward loses or to higher Ward's pedestal if he wins.
I've seen a lot more cases of posters rating and respecting both guys and just looking forward to a good fight. While seeing it as a 50/50, and enjoying the fact that both guys are challenging themselves.
There's been games and give and take on both sides on here.

I'm a big Kovalev fan, always have been, not particularly a fan of Ward, but i'm just looking forward to the fight.
2016 has seen lots of big fights fall through for us fans. So it's a nice change to get a fight like this. It's why we follow the sport after all isn't it?

Two quality fighters in a good fight, where their shouldn't be any of the 'hype job', 'exposed' talk once it's all said and done. The loser shouldn't have any shame.

I still don't know who i'm picking to win, i've favoured both guys over the last few months. I can see a case for them both.

It's almost time to sit back and enjoy.

Both guys are trying to climb Everest in this fight.

Kovalev has crazy, effortless power, and he has very little tell on his punches, that is like trying to walk through a minefield - he is such a handful its not even funny.

Ward is and has been special for a long time, and I am not the type of dude who throws that word around easy, 'special'. He is the total package minus punching power, he is from a mould and style which is a proven formula at the very highest level of the sport.

If Ward gets caught and stopped in 2 or 3 rounds, or Kovalev gets beaten one sided on the cards it doesn't change any of the above. We might have to realign our expectations of both guys based on the performance/result, but it doesn't change the above at all.

So many of you have such a hard time being impartial and using logic and reason. It is honestly frightening that these same people might be put in a job or life situation where you have to use those qualities.

close fight. i think ward has slipped a little bit. 60/40 in favor of ward. i'm rooting for kovalev but i don't know if the judges would give him a decision even if he deserved it.

            looking forward to this one.

I don't think Kovalev will win, but I'm still a fan of his (as a boxer).
This thread makes a lot of cats around here look real transparent. As I said, there were few Kovalev fans left before the fight, mostly Ward haters. And, a few that truly backed Sergey. The haters are boiling now that they got so close to seeing the man beat but Ward took that joy from them.

Said I was a Kovalev fan before the fight ^ and I still am.

I'm still a Kovalev fan so you have a little bit of a point there.

I was going to put you on ignore but I fear you'd have nothing to do with your life if you couldn't follow me around and get enraged at what I say. So, this response is my gift to you.
