How did Haymon and Schaefer trick GB out of their fighters? Most of the fighters were already signed with Haymon and he advised them not to sign with a promoter. Schaefer was ok with it and promoted their fights on a fight by fight basis, continuing to make money. GB was making money regardless, look at them now, missed out on a lot of money because of Oscar. GB lost deals with Barclays Center and AEG group who runs the Staples Center. Now there's plenty of small promoters benefiting from it making money of shows they do for Haymon.

To go even further, what do you earnestly believe it would've cost Golden Boy to formally sign Zab Judah, Andre Berto, and the rest of the name fighters that were used to fill out their tripleheaders.

With Oscar being out on his drug benders, and Golden Boy Promotions needing to be run as a business, Schaefer locked down the TV, cultivated the relationship with Haymon and the fighters, and basically sat with a non-exclusive exclusive relationship for Golden Boy.

Schaefer is beginning his new venture, the fighters featured on his first co-promotion have no formal ties to him, but Schaefer is also looking to slowly build up his own stable of fighters to bring along.
