Ward fought in the 178 division in the Olympics but only weighed in the low 170's...... It was because he and Dirrell were in the same weight. Ward was good enough that they put him on with bigger guys to try for two gold medals...... Ward was that dominant. He also did not rehydrate to be the bigger guy at SMW..... He was in ring around 176..... Pretty standard. Dawson outweighed Ward by ten pounds...... Allot has been made of Dawson being dehydrated.... But Dawson started at 168, he called Ward out and wanted that fight at 168...... That was maybe Ward's best performance.

I don't think Kovalev is going to find it easy to push Ward around. Ward is great at fighting out of a crouch to his own right side that will make it very difficult for Kovalev to land his right.....

Gonna be a great fight. Disagree fully Ward's best is behind him...... Agree Kovalev doesnt get enough credit for his skill......I still think Ward has the edge. But it's razor thin.....

Thank you!!! I'm surprised by how many cats get on here and start talking about how Ward was blown up at 168. It's whatever though. All excuses and whatnot go down the drain on the 19th. It'll be a great fight. May the best man win.

^Yes, for some reason there's a crowd of folks on here that don't understand that or have done their best to twist the facts.

^Came to post that. JDJ was cool about it, but still set the record straight.

I was really surprised to learn more about the relationship between John and Sergey. That he seems to make recommendations to enhance Sergey's gameplan. And, that Kov wasn't listening to him before the Chilemba fight. Big contrast to Ward, who refers to himself in the ring and in training as "we" (he and Virgil).

The other interesting thing, I see so many people here saying that they are the same size or Ward is bigger, but JDJ doesn't agree. He flat out said that Sergey is the bigger man.
I'm not really interested in arguing who is bigger but I wonder how much that plays into the gameplan. It's true what he said about people being surprised by Kovalev's power, but equally true that opponents are surprised to find themselves physically bullied and moved around by Ward. Lots of intrigue in this one....

Lol @ Kov saying Motor Mouth Sanchez not teaching him nothing!

And LMAO @ Uncle Tom admitting Kov doesn't really listen to him but just consolidates his "recommendations".

Ward is gonna put on a virtuoso performance and Uncle Tom & the Ruskie better not bring the excuses!

                Ward by clear decision!!
