Comments Thread For: Arum To Critics: I Guarantee Pacquiao-Vargas Ends in a Knockout!

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is not only predicting a knockout ending for Saturday's pay-per-view headliner - he guarantees Manny Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38KOs) vs. Jessie Vargas (27-1, 10KOs) will end in a knockout.

Vargas is in over his head. Obviously a KO is always a possibility in any fight, but Manny has too many slick moves and angles. If any of his past 6-7 years of fights screams KO win, this one is it. I haven't seen much of a variety of offensive moves by Vargas, so he'll be easy enough to figure out.

Arum still thinking Manny is that relevant.
Anything to try and hype this fight. Not manny people are talking about this Arum.

this is not going to look good for arum in a couple days...

it will go down just like this...

                  "I'm going for the knockout"

-floyd mayweather before 2nd maidana fight

                  12 rounds of clinching follows

Pac by decision or a slim possibility of Vargas by SD or even a far fetched stoppage (but very doubtful). Pac cannot stop anyone at WW, which has been quite clear since 2009. Cotto was a drained 142lbs when he was stopped by Pac back in 2009 (and that was only with about a ~1 minute or so left in the fight). Pac has the quick hard shots to stun or even drop some fighers at WW but he just does not have the power to stop anyone. Vargas is a big, young strong kid what is technically sound, with some newfound pop so I think this may be pretty competitive, even though I give Pac the edge due to angles, experience, etc. I have said many times as well, but people have to understand Pac is not a technically sound fighter, never has been. He just has natural speed/reflexes/angles like RJJ does in a way. If Pac continues to slow down, at some point he will become a punching bag for more technically sound fighters. I suggest he hang it up after this one if he takes damage or maybe one more fight after this. He needs to stay away from a Floyd 2, a Thurman or a Spence though as he will not win any of those. I think Garcia is a good one as Garcia needs to be KOed because he is a poser and way overrated, and he is flat footed and slow enough that Pac can beat him up to a pulp.
