a little off topic but everybody on this thread appears to be from the uk so i'll ask...How famous is hatton in england? By that i mean to the average person in england who doesn't follow boxing that closely or at all. Would the average person recognize his name and know that he is a boxer? I ask this because i heard on wednesday night fights that 6000 british fans are coming to the boston fight. This is quite impressive to me. i don't think there is any american fighter currently fighting (even mike tyson because of his current pathetic state, but maybe in the past)that could draw such an american following to attend an overseas fight. fighters just aren't the celebrities that they used to be. I'm curious if this is the case in England.Comment

Hatton's very popular over here, though obviously he won't be known by everyone he still has such a huge fan base. Us English take huge pride in following our fellow countrymen and sportsmen around the world regardless of the sport so 6,000 doesn't surprise me reallyOriginally posted by GxBraka little off topic but everybody on this thread appears to be from the uk so i'll ask...How famous is hatton in england? I'd say Hatton;s the most famous active boxer in the country, apart from Amir Khan, but is by no means a house hold name. Khan is known by every man, woman and child in the UK but Hatton is only really known to people that are into sport.Comment

wow

Yeah, mainly for what he did in the olympics. Since then everybody knows Amir Khan but if you were to ask UK boxing fans who was the most popular Hatton would win hands downOriginally posted by GxBrakAmir Kahn is that well known by everybody? wow, had no idea.Comment
