I think Golovkin should take the money and settle it once and for all. I suspect GBP will spin some other yarn after he does take the deal to avoid the fight. If the fight does happen you can be sure Golovkin will be primed and ready for the most important fight in his career. Not sure if Canelo wants to be on the other side of that motivation.

Jacobs wanted 40%.
They then tried to reach a compromise working back from that figure.
If it goes to purse bids it's 25% and now Jacobs all of a sudden wants 10-12 weeks preparation.
Yes, BJS wasn't offered a lot of money last year, but he wasn't their main priority at the time. A fight in the U.K. would be big......
Hold on, when asked why not fight Andre Ward..... Team Bull**** stated that Gennady would prefer to stay at 160 and unify the middleweight titles..... and Saunders held the sole remaining belt.
Also, what changed..... why is he suddenly a priority now ?
How has his worth increased since the 1.5mil low-ball ?

Eubank would be an option.
BJS is also an option.
If BJS beats Canelo, he'll be the priority.
If Canelo beats BJS, it takes him out of the equation for both guys.
If GG-Canelo couldn't reach a compromise to fight, GG would have the option of moving up. Whereas Canelo could only fight CW's or MW's who would be no longer relevant.
Reread the post.
Jacobs and Saunders would be options for Canelo if they hadn't already lost to GG.
If GG had beaten them, who would want to see Canelo fight them soon afterwards?
There would be zero interest in those fights, as the fans would be demanding a fight against GG instead.
You're not very bright.
Realistically, how does he fight both BJS and Jacobs before GG?
Originally posted by robertzimmerman View PostSeeing as they're currently deep in negotiations, GG has to be the favourite to fight Jacobs first.
The WBO have notified BJS that he now only has to fight one mandatory, which he'll fight next month. So he'll be free to negotiate with early next year. If Canelo is out injured and he's going to fight Cotto first, that would give K2 time to try and negotiate for a fight.
it looks to me like they will fk that fight up as well
If Canelo fights Cotto next then Golovkin has a little more time, but if not then he will likely fight Saunders next before making Golovkin another offer.....
you could be right about Jacobs, Canelo may not have any interest in the WBA interim title, the WBO title will give him all the leverage he needs

How the **** is he pricing himself out?
All that's happened is that K2 want to sit down to reach a compromise on a percentage.
Oscar is the one who is pricing Canelo out.
I don't think it's an exaggeration to predict that the fight could gross anywhere between $70-80m, if not more.
So how the **** is a 10m flat fee fair, just on the basis that Canelo is more popular?
It's an absolute joke, and so is anybody who advocates it.
There is nothing wrong with Canelo getting more. But he doesn't deserve anything like a 75% split in his favour. It's laughable.
I think that is a huge call.
And if it did, wouldn't HBO take their usual 45% ?

Look, do some realistic sums based of PPV fights in the past.
This fight would be huge.
Again, it's no exaggeration to predict that it could do anywhere between $70-80m. And that's just the PPV.
You can't give someone a flat fee from a fight of that magnitude.
$10m is not fair.
Canelo can't make this kind of money against any other opponent apart from Floyd.
There's nothing wrong with a percentage split in Canelo's favour. I have no issue with that whatsoever.
It's not K2 who's holding up the fight, it's Oscar De La Hoya. He is the one who doesn't want the fight until next Septemember, and he's the one who won't sit down to reach a fair compromise on a percentage split.
..... you admitted that they low-balled Saunders, and yet you also blamed Saunders for that fight not happening !

Then it will be over with and GGG can move up or whatever but at least he will have exposed both ODLH and the diva for the frauds that they are.

" 18-months ago I doubt Ward could have made 168 "
" Lara doesn't really want that fight "
" Golovkin should fight Canelo at 155 and kick his ass "
" take the 10 mill and utterly destroy the diva "

Boxing has NEVER worked like that, EVER.
Im still a little bit hopeful this one happens someday, but I have the feeling they'll milk this one like May-Pac
