Comments Thread For: Eleider Alvarez Confident His Chin Can Take Stevenson's Punches

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, the mandatory fight between Adonis Stevenson and Eleider Alvarez is heading to a date in early 2017. Their mutual promoter, Yvon Michel of GYM, felt it was best to push it back to early 2017 when more money would be available on the table. The two fighters also share the same adviser in Al Haymon.

I think Alvarez is good, but he is too economic to win over Stevenson.

Make it happen, and hopefully Haymon makes this another double-header!

Yes^. Alvarez is one of the best 2nd teir LHWs right now and people are foolishly talking about this as if Stevenson is cherry picking. But, the stylistic match-up is a problem for Alvarez. Stevenson is often troubled by steady fighters but his strength is in being able to ramp things up and force cracks in the dam when needed. While I see this being competitive, I don't know that Alvarez can hang with Adonis when things get heavy.

It's about time this bloody fight happened. Alvarez has waited long enough.

However, when it does take place, Adonis' power will prove too much and he'll end it around the 8th.

When a fighter says this, they usually get a beating and stopped

Yes, Alvarez is a little underrated, but he tends to make the fights more difficult than it should.
Stevenson will probably out-power him in the mid to late rounds unless Alvarez throws his hands more this time.
