Will Ward Switch to Southpaw Against Kovalev?

As he did against Brand. Would this give him an edge? I don't think Kovalev has faced many southpaws. I've never been a big fan of switching, but would this be a wise strategy? Any thoughts?

Its risky to do that in biggest fight of your life.He can just switch during fight from right to left to keep Siergiej busy,we need to remember that changing to southpaw can give advantages but it also can be deadly for man who switch, especialy when you fight with good technical fighter like Kovalev,Left hooks can put you to sleep.

I personaly wouldnt do it i think it can be more dangerous that good for Andre in this fight.

It obviously depends on whether he has been practicing it in training camp. I think he has and I think he will switch, I think he will reach deep into his boxing tricks for this fight. In my opinion his chances of success depend heavily on keeping Kovalev occupied by changing rhythm, stance, distance, etc.

Ward switched to southpaw vs. Brand because it interrupted Alexander's footwork and opened angles that enabled Ward to land straight down the middle. In Kovalevs case it should exploit Kovalev lack of balance/ poor footwork ( as we seen this in many of his fights ) however I dont think Ward is going to need to switch for offensive purposes given that Kovalev will be the aggressor and give Dre plenty to work with.

So if Kovalev is going to be the aggressor, would Ward NOT want to make the fight close. Can he win from the outside?

it would be better to fight inside for andre, something like : Jab to the body Faith faith and close the distance,Kovalev will allways be dengerous in distance ,to the last secounds can land bombs ,inside Kovalev is harmlesss imo.also changing southpaw open some options for kovalev.Right hand lead will be dangerous,Kova like to just faith jab and go with right lead.I think that in distance Kova have upper hand just my opinion.

Not sure why he would do that, it would open him up more for Kovalevs right hand

Its never been a problem before why change anything? and I dont know what you mean by making it 'Close' its not going to be...Ward is going to dominate by exploiting all of Kovalevs flaws...with the same style hes been executing ; I would not change anything its up to Kovalev to come break down this wall!!!

No. Not close as in a close fight. Close as in staying close to Kovalev in the fight. I'm just not too sure it's going to be that easy. Kovalev understands distance pretty well, too. I do wonder who's going to jab to the body more though.

Ward is a natural left handed, he is probably the best switch hitter in boxing besides Arlen Lopez and James DeGale.
I will like to see both fighters using all his repertory.
