how did the biggest fight ever have such a weak buildup?

Master self-promoter Floyd didn't even bother to get his troll mode on and defaulted to letting the fight sell itself.

I was expecting Floyd to Donald Trump manny and bully him hard like he did to Mosley, Hatton, and Oscar.

Instead Floyd gave manny a free pass. Being ESL made manny exempt from verbal abuse like Marquez was.

They really didn't need to promote at all. It was going to sell regardless. It had 5 years of buildup. Record for most buildup ever!

I agree.

But clearly it didn't need it, it would have had zero bearing on the ppv numbers, that money would have just come out of the fighters pocket on extra promotion. I think that was probably the rationale behind the decision to not do much.
