We really need to appreciate both Kovalev and Ward

In this day and age of the cherry picking we have the 2 best P4P fighters stepping up and fighting eachother. Everywhere other top fighters in other weight classes should take note because this is what boxing is all about and what it used to be about: the best fighting the best.

Much props and respect to both Ward and Kovalev for making this fight happen. This is arguably the biggest boxing match that could have gotten made, and I think we should all appreciate this so much more as it's really a throwback fight.

On that note, I have Kovalev winning an easier fight then expected for the following reasons

    1) Ward's about 6 years past his prime fighting a prime Kovalev
    2) Ward's prime was at 168, he has not looked "great" at 175
    3) Ward didnt look great against Brand who many thought he should have stopped early.
    4) Kovalev is a beast at 175 meanwhile Ward should have fought top 5 fighters at 175 to prep for Kovalev
    5) Kovalev not only has devastating power in both hands but he has a great ring iq as witnessed by the Hopkins fight. I think he will be stronger then Ward expects when trying to fight on the inside.

Hell I thought Ward looked good against Brand. Okey didn't get the stoppage but not the end of the world, He looked sharp and on point.

I am a diehard boxing fan that appreciates, but isn't a fan of, both. I like what each has done in their respective careers and will be purchasing this fight because it is one of the best fights that can be made in the sport.

They are fighting the best guy in their weight class and that's good but nothing incredible. GGG is trying to fight Canelo and Jacobs who are the best middleweights besides himself. Spence will fight any welterweight who dares to share a ring with him. Thurman and Garcia are going to fight and Thurman just fought Porter. Walters and Loma are fighting. Frampton is rematching Santa Cruz. So none of these guys are picking cherries for their next fight. The best heavyweights do indeed need to start fighting each other and Stevenson, Jermell Charlo and Lara needs to quit cherry picking their opponents and start fighting the type of challengers a good champion fights. So there are some cherry picking champs out there but some brave champions as well.
